KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (AP) — Villagers in southern Afghanistan are reporting that an overnight air strike by international forces has killed nine civilians, including at least three children.
The villagers drove several bodies to the local governor's office, and an Associated Press video shows some children among the dead. The convoy continued into a central market, where the villagers shouted "Death to foreigners!"
A provincial Afghan official is confirming the air strike, but says the dead are eight Taliban militants. He says there have been no reports of civilian deaths.
Villager Abdul Rashin says the people were killed while harvesting out in their fields.
