WASHINGTON (AP)— The House has voted to speed up the enactment date of tough new rules for credit card companies. Lawmakers were responding to complaints from voters about a spike in interest rates and steep new fees. But the proposal's chances are dim in the Senate.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Authorities in Cleveland say they have confirmed a total of at least 11 victims whose remains were found in the home of a registered sex offender. Officials say a skull found in a bucket in Anthony Sowell's basement belonged to a body they have not yet found. And police have identified one victim as a woman who disappeared a year ago.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The government says Toyota released misleading information about an investigation into problems with stuck gas pedals. The problem led to a massive recall. Toyota said Monday the government had confirmed that no defect exists in vehicles in which proper floor mats are secured.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The government says a cat in Iowa has been infected with swine flu. Veterinary and federal officials say it's believed to be the first case of the H1N1 virus in a feline in the United States. The animal was treated and has recovered.
