Posted: 11/3/2009

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — If the New York Yankees win their 27th World Series title, it'll be in front of the home fans. WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama has put a lot of time and energy into helping Democrats in three races on a light election day. Gubernatorial votes in New Jersey and Virginia and a House race in upstate New York could be seen as an early test of Obama's political influence.

KABUL (AP) — Afghanistan's president-by-default is promising to make his government more inclusive and root out corruption after a fraud-marred election and a canceled runoff. Hamid Karzai was declared the winner after his runoff opponent withdrew.

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel's military intelligence chief says Palestinian militants in Gaza have a new, more dangerous weapon. Maj. Gen. Amos Yadlin told lawmakers today the militants have successfully tested an Iranian rocket able to reach metropolitan Tel Aviv, a range of about 37 miles.
