The Yankees were helped by the first instant replay call in World Series history, which turned a double into a home run.

The union agreed not to go on strike as contract talks continued hours before the start of Game 3 between the Phillies and the New York Yankees. MANILA, Philippines (AP) — Forecasters say a typhoon blamed for at least 14 deaths in the Philippines could bring more rain and thunderstorms even as it swirls nearly 300 miles from the capital of Manila. The rains drenched the already sodden region, sending residents of one town clamoring onto rooftops. The typhoon is the fourth to hit the northern Philippines in just over a month. PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) — An Iraqi immigrant accused of running down his daughter with a car is back in Arizona to face charges after he was denied entry into London. Police say the man was upset that his daughter had become "too Westernized." He eventually flew to London, where he was sent back to the U.S. on aggravated assault charges. WASHINGTON (AP) — It was all treats at the White House this Halloween. The president and first lady doled out presidential M&Ms and White House cookies to more than 2,000 Washington, D.C. area school children. The White House itself got into the act -- it was decorated with a big stuffed spider and pumpkins.
