Frankfort, you're right that you shouldn't have to travel to TC to get your bill adjusted. They should have been able to fix that over the phone. I was simply referring to the fact that if your power is out, you're electric usage during that time is zero, so you don't get billed. As opposed to something like cable TV, if your cable goes out, you're still paying your flat rate per month wether you're able to use it or not. If you want garunteed, 100% reliable power, it may be available but for a very high cost. Unfortunately, the power companies can't control the weahter and I'm sure they hate power outages as much as you do. They are losing money every minute the power is out. As far as sarcasm goes, I will refrain this time because you are clearly better at it than I.
Patrick from Gaylord - Why don't you get off your high horse and give an answer that helps not a sacrastic answer. I, too, have had my bill over charged after a power outage. Consumers did fix it, but not after a struggle. (It took over 4 phone calls and a visit to the customer center in TC to fix it. Over 6 hours of my time. So please tell me where my CREDIT is for the gas and my time fixing their billing issue?) As for the meter not spinning I am thinking your meter isn't spinning even if the lights are on.
To Julea in Frankfort, when the power is out, you're not using any electricity so you're meter isn't spinning so you're not getting billed during that time. There's your CREDIT.
To the men and women that work for the power companies...THANK YOU.. THANK YOU.. THANK YOU. Police, firefighters etc get credit for their jobs each and every day but YOU folks go unnoticed . Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You all are true professionals that have a very dangerous job and take care of business on a moments notice. There is nothing like NOT haveing power and if it were not for you folks answering the call, we'd all be in a WORLD of trouble. THANK YOU!
I was on one of the crews that put in the poles on the golf course in traverse city. thanks for pictures now my son will understand why I couldn't go trick or treating
