NEW YORK (AP) — If consumers aren't spending, there are doubts about whether the recovery can continue -- so today's report of a drop in consumer spending has sparked a selloff on Wall Street. The gains from yesterday -- the best day in three months -- were wiped out, with the Dow losing 250 points, and the S&P 500 down 30. The Nasdaq composite lost 52 points.

ATLANTA (AP) — It's the biggest one-week increase in young deaths from swine flu since the pandemic began in April. Health officials say at least 19 more American children have died from swine flu complications. That brings the total to at least 114. Meanwhile, the government is releasing the last of its stockpile of liquid Tamiflu for children, because of reported shortages.

WASHINGTON (AP) — If the U.S. is going to be a leader in the fight against AIDS, President Barack Obama says, "we need to act like it." He says the government is going to overturn a travel and immigration ban that applied to people with HIV. When the ban ends early next year, it will complete a process that began in the Bush administration.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A judge in Los Angeles has ordered Anna Nicole Smith's boyfriend and two doctors to stand trial on charges of illegally providing prescription drugs to the former Playboy model. The ruling follows a three-week preliminary hearing to determine if there was enough evidence to try them.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Authorities in Georgia say two people are believed dead after a small plane hit an Atlanta-area house and burst into flames. The victims are believed to be a pilot who was alone on the plane, and a woman who was apparently inside the house when the plane hit.
