Inspection in Iran...Tribute in Delaware...Attack aftermath in Kabul

VIENNA, Austria (AP) — A United Nations team has made an inspection of a previously secret Iranian uranium enrichment plant. It was the first independent look at the controversial site. The West believes Iran revealed the plant's existence only because it had learned the U.S. and its allies were about to make it public. Iran denies that.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama has been making an early morning visit to Delaware's Dover Air Force Base to honor the return of fallen soldiers. Obama was on hand to greet the flag-draped caskets of 18 Americans killed this week in Afghanistan. The deaths make October the deadliest month for U.S. forces in the Afghanistan war.

KABUL (AP) — U.N. workers in Afghanistan remain on lockdown a day after Taliban militants made a deadly attack on a Kabul guesthouse. Five United Nations staffers and three Afghan civilians were killed. At least nine U.N. workers survived the two-hour assault and are being evacuated to the United Arab Emirates today.

WASHINGTON (AP) — After months of preparations and negotiations, the House Democratic leadership is set to unveil its retooled version of a health care overhaul. Release of the bill will open a history-making floor debate on extending health insurance to nearly every American. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to get the measure to the House floor next week, with a final vote before Nov. 11, Veterans Day.

NEW YORK (AP) — First lady Michelle Obama got a warm welcome from Yankees fans and a kiss from the team captain before Game 1 of the World Series last night. She and Jill Biden, wife of the vice president, escorted Hall of Fame catcher Yogi Berra to the mound for a pregame ceremony honoring the nation's veterans. The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Yankees, 1-6.
