The Desoto Next Generation Solar Energy Center in Arcadia is about to switch on to the state's power grid. It's the second largest such solar power center in America.

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The head of the U.N. secretary general's Climate Support Team says he doesn't see a treaty coming out of international climate talks this December. He says reduced expectations come in part because of lack of funding for developing nations, no deal on carbon emissions and lack of U.S. climate legislation.

ORANGE PARK, Fla. (AP) — Funeral services are today for a slain north Florida girl whose body was found in a Georgia landfill. After the services at the First Baptist Church of Orange Park, mourners will release thousands of purple balloons into the air in memory of 7-year-old Somer Thompson. The burial is private.
