WASHINGTON (AP) — Extending jobless benefits to those who are still out of work will be one focus of Senate Democrats this week. Republicans have blocked unanimous consent and Democrats now say they're open to GOP amendments.

KABUL (AP) — Helicopter crashes in Afghanistan, including a midair collision, have killed 14 Americans, including three civilians. Both U.S. and Afghan authorities have denied that any desecration took place.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama meets with his national security team to discuss Afghanistan later today. It's his sixth major Afghanistan conference in the White House Situation Room. Later, Obama travels to Jacksonville Naval Air Station in Florida to visit with troops.
