Miami funeral...Pakistan attacks...World food report

MIAMI (AP) — University of Connecticut cornerback Jasper Howard will be buried in Florida later today after a funeral in his home town of Miami. The 20-year-old was fatally stabbed during outside a campus dance early last Sunday. No one has yet been charged in his death.

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Authorities report that six Pakistani security officers have been killed in militant attacks. Militant attacks have surged in Pakistan this month, as the Taliban have tried to avert Pakistan's army offensive in a militant stronghold.

CANBERRA, Australia (AP) — A United Nations report finds that most of the developing world is paying more for food, despite drops in market prices during the economic slowdown. The World Food Program also says that 200 million people have joined the ranks of the hungry in the past two years.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — The Internet may be about to undergo one of its biggest changes in its 40-year history. That's if the group that oversees the Internet agrees to allow domain names to be written in languages other than English. The approval is expected Friday, at the group's meeting this week in South Korea.

NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Yankees are heading to the World Series. The Yanks won their first pennant in six years last night, beating the Los Angeles Angels 5-2 in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series. They'll take on the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday, when the World Series opens at Yankee Stadium.
