Bombs in Baghdad...U.N. inspectors in Iran...Jerusalem shrine conflict

BAGHDAD (AP) — Two powerful car bombs have exploded in downtown Baghdad. Iraqi police and hospital officials say at least 91 people have been killed and more than 250 wounded. The blasts went off less than a minute apart during the morning rush hour. They appeared to target two prominent government institutions — the Ministry of Justice and the headquarters of the Baghdad provincial administration.

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — U.N. nuclear inspectors are preparing for their first look inside a once secret uranium enrichment facility. The site is carved into a mountainside south of Tehran near the holy city of Qom (kohm). The site's discovery has raised international suspicion over the extent and aim of Tehran's nuclear program.

KABUL (AP) — The U.S. military says another American service member has been killed by a bomb in southern Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Afghan police fired shots in the air to disperse students protesting a rumor that U.S. troops burned a copy of the Quran (ku-RAHN'). U.S. and Afghan authorities have denied the rumor and say Taliban supporters spread the false report to stir trouble.

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli police stormed a holy shrine in Jerusalem today, firing stun grenades to disperse hundreds of Palestinian protesters. The hilltop compound is known to Jews as the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism. Muslims call it the Nobel Sanctuary. It's the third-holiest site in Islam and believed to be the place where the Prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven.

NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels will try to play Game 6 of the American League Championship Series in the Bronx again tonight. Rain scrubbed the game last night. The Yanks have a 3-2 series lead.
