VIENNA (AP) — A team of U.N. inspectors is visiting Iran to examine the country's recently revealed uranium site, after Tehran asked for more time to consider a U.N.-backed plan to rein in its nuclear program. That plan would ship much of Iran's uranium to Russia for enrichment. President Barack Obama today thanked France's leader for his close cooperation on the issue, while he stressed the need for unity when he spoke with Russia's president.

WASHINGTON (AP) — With a CDC estimate that "many millions" of Americans have had swine flu, President Barack Obama has declared a national emergency. The move gives his health chief the ability to let hospitals move emergency rooms offsite to speed treatment and protect noninfected patients.

CAIRO (AP) — At least 25 people are dead after a passenger train rammed into another one ahead of it just outside Cairo. A police official says at least 55 more have been injured. Crews are working to pull the dead and wounded from the wreckage.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The National Transportation Safety Board says it's setting up interviews with the pilots of a Northwest flight who flew 150 miles past their destination Wednesday night. The first officer of the flight, Richard Cole, insists there was no argument in the cockpit and neither of the pilots was sleeping.

PATERSON, N.J. (AP) — Police say three men made off with just $2 in change from a New Jersey apartment, and left behind the keys to their getaway car. Police were able to use the keys to track down the car's owner. They say they went to one suspect's home to find the three sitting in a taxi.
