I feel for the student's family, and for the driver, unless you were there when it happened you dont know why so stop blaming the student and/or the driver. Crossing State street has always been an issue, they need a walking bridge over such a busy street. It was bad 20 years ago when I went there and I would assume it is much worse now. Safety should be the no. 1 concern. Some students jay walk and there are some drivers that dont know how to share the road, and that will never change. So lets not blame lets fix this dangerous situation!
I always thought it was a matter of time before such an accident would occur. The pedestrian traffic is terrible in Big Rapids and the roads are even worse for such traffic. Its timie the university does something about it. Who is to blame.....
This is so sad. The family for Fumitoshi will be in my thoughts and prayers. I was always afraid of this happening. When the students are walking in town, I am always carefull. As drivers we just need to be more aware. I am sure this was an accident and the driver must feel horrible. My thoughts and prayers are with him/her as well.
