WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. effort to limit Iran's nuclear program has been dealt a setback -- with the refusal of Iranian leaders to accept a plan for them to ship most of the country's uranium elsewhere for enrichment. The U.S., Russia and France today endorsed the plan -- but Iran's state TV says the country wants to buy the nuclear fuel for its reactor, instead of sending uranium to Russia to be enriched for fuel.

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia (AP) — Even though the U.S. defense chief says President Barack Obama is still weeks away from deciding on future war strategy in Afghanistan, top NATO and U.N. officials are signaling that they might send more international troops to join U.S. forces there. NATO defense ministers are discussing the Afghan war at a conference in Slovakia.

ISLAMABAD (AP) — A major Pakistani air base is among the latest targets of insurgent bomb attacks. A suicide bomber on a bicycle killed seven people today in an attack near the base. It was one of three bombings in northwest Pakistan that killed 24 people today. The country's army is continuing a seven-day offensive in al-Qaida and Taliban territory near the Afghan border.

ORANGE PARK, Fla. (AP) — Investigators don't think they've found any suspects among the sex offenders they've interviewed in a Florida community. They say they've talked to all 161 registered sex offenders living within five miles of the home of Somer Thompson, a 7-year-old girl who disappeared while walking home from school this week. Her body was found at a trash dump. Her mother was on the morning TV shows today, saying she thinks the killer will be caught.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The cockpit voice recorder from a Northwest Airlines plane has been sent to Washington for analysis -- and it could hold the answers as to why the plane went 150 miles past its destination Wednesday night before the crew realized it and turned it around to land in Minneapolis. A source says a flight attendant finally contacted them by intercom. Investigators will try to determine if the crew fell asleep in the cockpit.
