ISLAMABAD (AP) — There's been a suicide bombing in Pakistan near a major air force complex. Seven people have been killed. The blast is the latest in a wave of militant strikes in Pakistan, even as Pakistani forces wage an anti-militant offensive near the Afghan border.

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia (AP) — The top U.S. military commander in Afghanistan is planning to make a previously unscheduled appearance at a meeting of NATO defense ministers Friday. Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal will be giving his view of the war to NATO officials, including Defense Secretary Robert Gates.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Federal officials are investigating whether pilot fatigue was a factor when a Northwest Airlines jet overflew the Minneapolis airport by 150 miles. The plane landed safely Wednesday after the crew discovered the mistake. None of the 144 passengers and five crew members was injured.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Pennsylvania company is recalling women's chenille robes made in Pakistan after they were linked to nine deaths. The robes are highly flammable and most of the deaths happened when the victims were cooking. Federal officials and the Blair company are now expanding the recall to include chenille jackets and other garments.

DETROIT (AP) — There's word that comedian Soupy Sales has died in New York. His career was built on slapstick pies to the face and thousands of TV appearances across a half-century. Sales also had a children's show and was once suspended after telling his tiny listeners to empty their mothers' purses and mail him all pictures of the presidents. Soupy Sales was 83.
