WASHINGTON (AP) — A House panel is looking into the possibility of fraud among some people taking advantage of the first-time homebuyer tax credit. The probe comes as Congress considers whether to extend, and possibly expand, the stimulus act provision that allows qualified first-time homebuyers a tax credit of up to $8,000. The benefit is set to expire next month.

(AP) — The production of swine flu virus is running weeks behind, and many states have had to postpone scheduled vaccinations. The federal government originally promised 120 million doses of swine flu vaccine by now, but only 13 million have come through. Officials are putting part of the blame on a slow and antiquated vaccine production process.
