KABUL (AP) — Both candidates have now agreed to a presidential run-off election in Afghanistan. Potential hurdles for poll organizers include trying to find replacements for workers accused of misconduct. That's after a U.N.-backed panel found there had been massive fraud during the August vote.

PARACHINAR, Pakistan (AP) — Intelligence officials say Pakistani forces have been gaining ground in battles in the hometown of Pakistan's Taliban leader. Meanwhile, all educational institutions have been closed in Pakistan today, in the wake of twin suicide attacks at Islamabad's International Islamic University yesterday.

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden is in Warsaw, Poland, where he'll be meeting with Polish leaders and veterans of the war in Afghanistan. The visit is seen by some as damage control after Washington's handling of missile defense plans and efforts to mend ties with Russia.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A spokesman for Oregon congressman Greg Walden says the lawmaker has been diagnosed with a probable case of swine flu. The Republican missed votes last night and is expected to be out of action for the next several days.
