The old Sugar Loaf resort in Leelanau County has been approved as a Brownfield redevelopment site because of suspected contamination.
Tonight Brownfield officials presented findings of an environmental study done on the former resort.
Findings include suspected leakage from an underground storage tank, asbestos, and black mold.
At the meeting, a concerned group of residents got the chance to ask questions and talk about concerns.
Officials say the property does not pose any imminent public health or environmental risks.
The site now qualifies for state and local funding should a developer want to take on the property.
The next step will be taking samples from the property to confirm the suspected contamination.
