Traverse City Light and Power is negotiating a purchase agreement with Heritage Wind Energy to buy renewable energy.
Heritage is in the process of building Stony Corners Wind Farm in Missaukee County. If a purchase agreement goes through, Heritage will provide 10 mega watts of energy to TCLP.
The project would generate jobs and help the environment at the same time. TCLP says renewable energy wouldn't increase customer bills. If the purchase goes through, they hope to be using wind energy by this time next year. Stacey Skrysak and Joel Deaner have more on the possible deal.
