Weather Experts Predict Light Snow Fall This Winter » View Picture » Play Video » Feedback (4)
Weather experts have issued their predictions for the winter season, and the outlook is getting some mixed reviews.
The National Weather Service and the Old Farmer's Almanac have different predictions, but both believe most of northern Michigan will see below average snowfall. In northern Michigan, many businesses have a lot riding on snow precipitation. Crystal Mountain Resort in Thompsonville always hopes for a heavy snow season. But even if they don't get the snow, Brian Lawson, Director of Public Relations, says they have equipment to fill the void. "We've made a large investment should mother nature be a little on the short side of natural snow," he says. Crystal Mountain has more than 150 snow guns to cover the mountain. Other businesses rely much more on the natural snow, like Timber Ride Resort with its own cross country trails. 9&10's Ryan Raiche and Photojournalist Justin DePrekel have the story.
