Some economists may say the recession is over, but unemployment rates continue to climb.
Michigan's jobless rate for September jumped a tenth of a percentage point to 15.3 percent. Four Northern Michigan counties are among the top 10 counties with the biggest unemployment increases from one year ago. Those include Oscoda, Montmorency, Osceola, and Wexford Counties. In Wexford county, around 20 percent of people are unemployed, but we found out tonight that there are jobs out there. Michigan Works in Cadillac says it's all about knowing how and where to look. They say the best way to start is to go online to the Michigan Talent Bank. You can find a link there directly below this story. Employers across the state list open positions there, and job seekers can post their resumes, too. We did a quick search for jobs within 25 miles of Cadillac and came up with almost 200 jobs available right now. Michigan Works says you might have to take a job in an industry you're not familiar with, but they say having a job, makes it easier to find a better one.
