Another deadly blast...CA water worries...New Jackson single

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — A suicide car bomb targeting an army vehicle in northwest Pakistan has killed at least 41 people. A provincial official says the attack also wounded 45 people. It's the latest in a string of major attacks in Pakistan ahead of an expected offensive in the main al-Qaida and Taliban stronghold of South Waziristan (vah-ZEER'-ih-stahn).

KHAR, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistani fighter jets have been bombing suspected militant hide-outs, but not in the South Waziristan strongholds where the army has been planning an offensive. Today's airstrikes were in Bajur, where the military had declared victory over the Taliban in February. A local official says the 13 alleged militants have been killed and 9 others wounded.

BELFAST, Northern Ireland (AP) — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is appealing to rival Catholic and Protestant leaders in Northern Ireland to strengthen their power-sharing government. In a speech to the Northern Ireland Assembly, Clinton told lawmakers that their 2-year-old partnership demonstrates to the world that even the most bitter conflicts can be resolved through patient, painful compromise.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has called a special session of the California Legislature for today. He and legislative leaders plan a seventh straight day of talks today on how to address the state's deteriorating water system that's unable to sustain a growing state, especially during dry years.

LONDON (AP) — Michael Jackson is back on the airwaves with a new song. "This is It" is the first single from an upcoming documentary of the same name. It premiered on Jackson's official Web site www.MichaelJackson.com at midnight Eastern time.
