High Winds Leave 80,000 Without Power Statewide

Crews are trying to restore power this morning to nearly 80,000 homes throughout the state. Nearly 5,000 of those outages are in our viewing area.
A strong storm brought in heavy rain and wind, and 9&10 News has heard about everything from trees down to cars damaged.
Consumers Energy crews are working non-stop to replace poles and restring lines that were blown over by the gusty winds. They say 50,000 customers are without power in the western and northwestern part of the state. About 30,000 customers are blacked out in the Detroit area.
Counties with the most homes without power in our area include Newaygo County with more than 1,500, Wexford County with 865, and Grand Traverse County with more than 750.
