An upper peninsula man is dead after he was struck while riding his bicycle on a Chippewa County highway Friday night. State police say the accident happened on M-129 near Five Mile road, south of Sault Ste. Marie around eight p.m. They say the victim, 27 year old Wayne Tadgerson of Brimley, was reported by witnesses to be swerving on the roadway, and wearing dark clothing, when he was struck by a northbound vehicle. Police believe poor visibility may have contributed to the accident, which remains under investigation.
Why is everyone thinking its the drivers fault dont u think he/she probably feels bad enough. I know the Tadgerson family and they do like to drink but are good people! Everyone just needs to respect the family and give thanks it wasnt one of your own! Sorry about your lose Tadgerson family!
I also believe that everyone should wait until the investigation is complete before people start blaming anyone. Right now we have to remember that a person has lost their life and we need to keep his family in our thoughts and prayers. The same goes for the driver. They need to be kept in everyone's thoughts and prayers also. This is no doubt hard for the driver as well as for the victim's family and friends.
Seems to me that there are far to many people will and ready to throw the blame around. At this time this tragity is being called and ACCCIDENT and untill ALL of the facts are in then thats what it will remain. Lets not be so quick to judge. I understand the hurt and pain friends and family are feeling and there want to find something or someone to blame for this, I have been there myself... unfortunaly it does not help. As for the rest of thoes out there wanting to cast blame and judgement lets please respect thoes who have passed and thoes left behind and wait for the facts.
Wait til ALL the facts are out. Seems like there were plenty of WITNESSES that saw him illegally in the middle of the road on a bike. It is a tragic loss of life, but IF the witness accounts are correct, sounds like the driver is not at fault. This tragedy very well could have been prevented. If he was going WITH traffic and in the bike lane/on the shoulder, he would have been okay. IF the driver THEN hit him when he was legally riding his bike, then blame the driver.
Unfortuantely this part of the road is very poorly lit and has always been. I knew eventually there would be a very unfortunate accident in this area. Riding a bike in a poorly lit area wearing dark clothing is an accident waiting to happen. Unfortunately, an accident did occur and it took someones life. Not only must people understad that wearing dark clothing when out walking or riding bike at nght is a bad idea because it makes it difficult for drivers to see you and instead you should be wearing bright and even reflective material when out at this time. Also, the city (or county) should be looking into doing something to make this road better lit at night so that something like this does not happen again. I do not feel (as of now until the whole story is out) that anybody is at fault here and it was just a very unfortunate accident that could have happened to anyone. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family at this time as I know exactly how difficult it isto lose a loved one.
he was swerving in and out of traffic-- crop a brain "brimleY", and tell the rest of your friends who are still alive riding bikes on the roadway to USE THEIR HEADS !!!!
On a bike,it's dark, weaving on the road....sounds like alcohol may have been involved. James is correct, people on bicycles need to follow the laws too.
I'm pretty sure it was the same person we saw driving down the MIDDLE of the business spur and 2 cars almost hit him. This is a tradgedy but they've been tellin people since theyr were 2 years old how to ride a bike in the dark or daytime.
I know it wasn't the drivers fault. The news isn't always right on what they report to the public. This type of incident will occur when you laying down on the road.
Sorry for the loss....but people on bicycles have laws to follow on the road, too. BTW, sunset is around 740p.m. and sometimes times right around dusk are the toughest time to see people. Take care.
Poor visibility is a poor excuse. It's not all the way dark by eight o'clock. So what if Wayne was wearing dark clothing, it is the drivers fault, and full punishment should take place. You can clearly see the side of the road. The driver should have been paying attention.
My heart goes out to Wayne and his family.
Rest Easy Buddy.
