The U.S. Coast Guard helicopter out of Traverse City helped get medical treatment for a crewmember of a merchant ship.

Sunday afternoon, the man complained of chest pains on the "American Century" vessel. The ship was about 40 miles northwest of the Apostle Islands.

The helicopter crew took the man to Bayfield, WI. He was later airlifted to a Duluth, MN hospital.
