Baldwin EZ-Mart Fire Indirectly Creates Big Mess at Lake County Sheriff's Department » View Picture » Play Video » Feedback (0)
The Lake County Sheriff's Department spent the day cleaning up several inches of sewer water from its administration offices.
The mess started when fire crews hooked up water hoses to fight the EZ-Mart fire across the street from the Sheriff's office around 2 a.m. this morning. "Last night during the EZ Mart fire, the fire department showed up and hooked up to the water main system to fight the fire and of course there was a drop in water pressure," said Lake County Undersheriff Mike Dermeyer. "Our sprinkler system apparently read that drop as an open sprinkler head so it kicked on water to the sprinkler head and we had a relief valve pop open and it didn't shut." That left behind several inches of sewer water, and a big mess for crews to clean up. 9&10's Kalee Iacoangeli and photojournalist Jordan Nagel have more on the Sheriff Department's cleanup effort.
