But, incident commander Mike Dietrich warns they haven't "turned the corner" yet. The blaze is 49 percent contained. Despite recent gains, two flare-ups are presenting new challenges.

The brother of the suspect accused of killing his father and seven others insists Guy Heinze Jr. would never hurt his family. And Heinze's grandfather says he "just can't believe it." MANILA, Philippines (AP) — Navy ships and air force helicopters helped rescue nearly 1,000 people from a listing ferry in the Philippines. A child and a man drowned during the scramble to safety and three other passengers were injured. It's not clear what caused the ferry to tilt. OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Investigators are blaming heavy fog for an Oklahoma plane crash that killed five people, including a Tulsa couple and two of their children. Police say the six-passenger craft was on its way to Dallas when it hit a guide wire from a communications tower. WAMSUTTER, Wyo. (AP) — One Wyoming police lieutenant says after a wine truck crashed and caught fire along the interstate, the corks went flying like Jiffy Pop. Wyoming Highway Patrol Lt. Scott Keane says one of his troopers was hit in the arm while crews worked to contained the flames. Some of the bottles survived the fire, but vanished overnight.
