Roadside bomb...Mobile home suspect...Huge fail on Madoff

KUNDUZ, Afghanistan (AP) — Associated Press reporters in northern Afghanistan say a roadside bomb has exploded near a convoy of German troops. The roadside bombing comes one day after a NATO fighter jet targeted two fuel tankers in an attack that Afghan officials say killed up to 70 people, including civilians.

WASHINGTON (AP) — If President Barack Obama decides to send more troops to Afghanistan, he could encounter resistance from Congress. Key Senate Democrats say the U.S. must focus more on building Afghan security forces.

BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) — Relatives of eight people slain in a mobile home in Brunswick, Ga., are preparing to bury the victims. Meanwhile, police have arrested a suspect in the killings: the man who'd called 911 to say his "whole family's dead." Guy Heinze Jr. is charged with eight counts of first-degree murder.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The head of the Securities and Exchange Commission says the agency's failure to catch Bernard Madoff's huge Ponzi scheme is something it continues to regret. Mary Schapiro says officials will closely review a report by the SEC inspector general detailing 16 years of bungled probes.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama has discussed health care in a conference call with House members from his Camp David retreat. California Democrat Lynn Woolsey says lawmakers expressed their commitment to a government-run health care plan, an idea Obama has wavered on.
