Onekama Brands Itself: Gateway To M-22 » View Picture » Play Video » Feedback (0)
Today the Onekama community celebrated a new grant and a new identity -- one that could help bring in new businesses and jobs.
The community received a $30,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Today the community held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to announce the grant and the kick-off of their new business plan along a stretch of M-22. As part of that plan, they've branded the community as "The Gateway To M-22." They're hoping the name will attract some attention and put them on the map. The community will use the grant money to enhance the downtown area of Onekama with things like bike paths and new businesses. The stretch of M-22 from Onekama to Arcadia Township is where they will focus their re-development efforts. 9&10's Erika Waddell and photojournalist Stephanie Adkins have the story.
