A bomb squad robot was used to find out if a suspicious pipe was explosive. The Leelanau Township Fire Chief found the pipe in the driveway of his home in Northport. It was closed on both ends, so he immediately call deputies.
The Michigan State Police bomb squad used a robot to inspect the pipe. The robot moved it to an empty lot across the street to take an x-ray. The pipe turned out to be hollow on the inside.
The pipe was turned over to the Leelanau County Sheriff's Department. Deputies will take a closer look at the pipe to see if there are any finger prints and try to find out if it was placed there by someone.
Stacey Skrysak and Photojournalist Jeremy Erickson spent the day at the scene.
