The economy is impacting some Northern Michigan summer camps differently this summer.
Camp Daggett in Petoskey says they're only about 93-percent full this year. That's down from last year. The director suspects people moving out of Michigan has to do with the change. On the other hand, camp registration numbers at Ann Arbor Y.M.C.A.'s Camp Al-Gon-Quian in Burt Lake is up five-percent from last summer. They say there is even a wait list. The director there feels in this economic pinch more people are sending their kids to summer camp, instead of extended summer vacations. Either way, both camps say they're seeing a major increase in financial aid requests. 9&10's Christina Vecchioni and photojournalist Aaron Smith have more details on what the camps are noticing this year.
