There is virtually nothing left of a family's pole barn in Osceola County this morning.
It started when hay caught fire in the barn off 170th Avenue between 3 and 4 Mile Roads in Hersey. The fire devoured the entire barn. When firefighters got there, they found the inside of the barn engulfed in flames. Firefighters say the barn was used primarily for storage.
They say pole barn fires are tougher to fight than other structure fires because they aren't very sturdy. No one was inside at the time.
Its was the Delines house and I live right down the road and i arrived there when the fire just started and some fire fighters said the flames were about 350 feet high. They lost one of their tractors and a hay combine which were over $10,000. They also lost a 350 pound pig but amazingly all their other animals got out safely.
