Local Soldier Receives Unforgettable Homecoming From Veterans Group
Posted: 5/1/2009

A group of veterans gave a local soldier a special homecoming today in Traverse City.

The newly created local chapter of the Forgotten Eagles is making it a point to properly welcome home our Northern Michigan soldiers.

Army Specialist, 4th Class Anthony Lidster got the warm welcome this afternoon at Cherry Capital Airport.

The 21-year-old Eastport native served 15 months of duty in air missile defense in Kuwait and Qatar.

The Forgotten Eagles greeted him with rounds of applause and many thanks for his service.

Lidster's father, a veteran who served in Korea in the 1970s, is also a member of the group and was proud to be able to give his son a proper homecoming.

If you would like to join the Forgotten Eagles, or would like to let them know about a soldier's homecoming, contact Chapter 6 president Paul Smith at psmith2977@hotmail.com or (231) 645-8272.
