More than 50 Neglected Animals Seized from Mackinac County Home » View Picture » Play Video » Feedback (0)
Animal control officers seized more than 50 animals from a home in Rexton in Mackinac County. They say horses, donkeys, dogs, llamas, even a few bobcats were living in extremely poor conditions.
They say the animals had no food or water, no maintenance or medical care and some lived in up to 8 feet of feces. The animal's owner is in bad health and officers say he was overwhelmed. Charges could be pressed this week. The county needs donations to set up a shelter, feed the animals and provide them with medical care. Donations can be sent to the Mackinac County Animal Shelter, 590 Cheeseman Road, St. Ignace, MI 49781. 9&10's Tawney Saylor and Photojournalist Aaron Smith have more on the worst case of animal neglect officers say they've ever seen in the county.
