Clare County Drug Dealer Roundup » View Picture » Play Video » Feedback (0)
Officers from the Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team (B.A.Y.A.N.E.T.) spent much of the day Thursday rounding up six people in Clare County they say deal drugs.
After starting the day with nine arrest warrants in-hand, police from multiple agencies arrested three of the suspected dealers in Clare. They caught two more in surrounding communities and say one man turned himself in. B.A.Y.A.N.E.T.’s lead investigator Mel Matthews says the arrests are a wrap-up of year's worth of undercover work. He says some of the people are also drug makers who churned out oxycodone, marijuana and heroin. Clare city Police Chief Dwayne Miedzianowski’s officers assisted in the arrests. He says the crackdown will take a lot of drugs out of the area, at least temporarily. “It's not over for us," he says. "We did what we did today but there's always somebody that's going to try to pick up the ball on their behalf.” 9&10 News reporter Ben Kwan and photojournalist Greg Miller spoke to the terminally ill wife of one of the men arrested. She says her husband is innocent and that she desperately needs his care.
