    With all the snow on the ground, it's kind of hard to believe today is the first full day of spring.Even though it's still cold out, certain environmental cause have bears moving.The longer daylight hours are bringing bears out of their dens.After their long winter sleep they are, as you can expect, hungry.Smells form garbage, bird feeders, and grills attract bears.The DNR says they have had several reports of bears going through garbage already.

    Ice fisherman from the upper lower peninsula down to the middle of the state have until midnight tomorrow to remove their ice shanties.After the mandatory deadline, shanties can still be put up during the day, but have to be removed daily.And of course, just because you can put them up doesn't mean you should if the ice is unsafe.You should always check conditions first before wandering out on ice covered lakes.Shanty owners who's structure falls through the ice will have to pay a penalty.

    15 new turkeys are in the Baldwin area tonight after they were released into the wild.The DNR along with the Michigan Wild Turkey Hunters Association released the turkeys in an open field Wednesday afternoon.The turkeys will help increase a dwindling population in and around Baldwin and hopefully reproduce in the spring.All the birds were relocated from Barry County.The DNR says the releases generate a positive response from turkey hunters.
