The Heritage Broadcasting family focuses on delivering relevant content, fostering a connection between our communities in which we live and serve both inside and outside the borders of Northern Michigan.
We accomplish this through our guided principles that lead us to be pioneering, comprehensive and a passionate community organization.
Overview
A CBS affiliate, WWTV/WWUP-TV 9&10 News brings you 9 hours of local news every weekday plus 2 hours over the weekend.
We broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our digital signals, WWTV-DT / WWUP-DT, can be viewed on digital broadcast channels 9.1, 10.1, and 40.1.
The Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB) has released the results of their 2021 Broadcast Awards.

Station History
Channel 9
Television station WWTV, Channel 13, Cadillac – Traverse City went on the air 1 January 1954 under the ownership of the Spartan Corporation of Jackson MI. On 1 September 1958 we were purchased by The Fetzer Broadcasting Company of Kalamazoo MI. WWTV’s building burned to the ground on 24 January 1961. On 15 May 1962 we switched from Channel 13 to Channel 9. In 1979 we were purchased by Wilson Communications and in 1986 we were purchased by our current owners, Heritage Broadcasting Co of MI. WWTV’s primary affiliation is with the CBS Television Network.
WWTV’s tower is located at the highest point in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula at 1704 feet above sea level. On top of that we have an antenna and tower structure reaching 1290 feet, which makes it one of the tallest structures in the Great Lakes area. We transmit at 45 KW ERP.
WWTV transmits in color, stereo, and closed captioned.
Channel 10
Television Station WWUP-TV Channel 10, Sault Ste. Marie MI went on the air on 15 June 1962. It is a full time satellite of WWTV. The transmitter is located at Goetzville MI, about 30 miles southeast of Sault Ste. Marie MI. A microwave relay system carries programming from WWTV to Goetzville for retransmission. WWUP-TV transmits 316,000 watts visual and 31,600 watts aural. The combined height of the antenna and tower above ground is 1126 feet which is 1881 feet above sea level. WWUP-TV transmits in color, stereo, and closed captioned.
