Chelsea Clinton weds...Air quality warning for Calif. wildfire

RHINEBECK, N.Y. (AP) — It was Chelsea Clinton's day to shine. She wore a strapless white gown with a full skirt and silver beading around the waist and carried a bouquet of white flowers as she wed her longtime boyfriend, investment banker Marc Mezvinsky. The site of the wedding, a riverside estate called Astor Courts, was sealed off from the general public.

PALMDALE, Calif. (AP) — Firefighters have a wildfire 82 percent contained in the high desert north of Los Angeles. But it's still spewing plumes of thick smoke that prompted air quality warnings for residents in the area.

BAGHDAD (AP) — July has turned out to be the deadliest month for Iraqis in more than two years. Official figures show 535 people were killed in violence in July, the highest since May 2008 when 563 were killed. Violence rose as politicians bickered over the formation of the next government.

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — Residents of Pakistan's northwest are beginning to criticize the government after flooding that has killed more than 800 people. People complain they're not getting shelter or help tracking down loved ones. The government has deployed more than 30,000 army troops to help with the rescue and relief effort.

BEIJING (AP) — Japan may not be the world's second-largest economy much longer. China is in the rear-view mirror and set to overtake Japan and by some measures it has already moved to second place after the U.S. in total economic output.
