Big Rapids Competitive Dance Team, Taking Their Talent to the World Stage

A competitive dance team in Big Rapids has earned the opportunity of a lifetime. They’re getting a chance to compete at the World Dance Competition.

Now they’re asking for the community’s support to take their small town talent to the world stage.

The Rhythm’s Edge Competitive Dance Team is made up of 28 dancers from Mecosta, Osceola and Lake Counties.

They’re now raising money so they can make the trip to New Jersey to compete at the World Competition.

“It means the world to us, it is the worlds,” Stefanya McGuckin, dance teacher.

A competition that very few dancers get the chance to perform at.

“It’s an invitation only competition and they have competitors from Canada, Japan, China and from all over the world that come to New Jersey,” says McGuckin.

Dancer, Tori Todd, knows how special this opportunity is so she’s leaving it all on the stage every time.

“It’s special. We’ve only been invited a couple of times but this year it was big because we got three dances invited which is not very common,” says Tori Todd.

Practicing day in and day out, this team has the talent but now they need the money to go.

So they’re focusing on fundraising.

“We want to raise the money so that we can get there,” says Todd.

Looking to the community for help to make their dreams come true.

“It means a lot because we don’t get invited every year and not many teams get invited so it’s really special,” Mackenzie Streicher, dancer.

“This is not an experience that everyone gets to do so especially in a small town like this,” says Todd.
