Mecosta-Osceola Career Center Student Wins Nationwide Award

A student at the Mecosta-Osceola Career Center is being recognized with a special award in a nation-wide competition.

The judges liked his video so much that they’re recognizing his classmates, too!

Cody Schultz, senior at the career center, is finishing his last year leaving a lasting mark.

“Cody Schultz is one of the students at Mecosta-Osceola Career Center who put together an amazing video talking about his options and what he thought of the industry for the auto as a whole,” Lenny Teske, H.S. Admissions Representative for Lincoln Tech.

Cody is a student in the CTC’s Diesel Technology class.

His video explains how that’s going to help him in the future and it was one of thousands of entries.

“Out of all the finalists he was picked to win a $1,700 toolbox and because of that his teacher was awarded a $21,000 Macro tool box,” says Teske.

An extra special surprise for Diesel Technology Teacher, Toni King, but when it comes to Cody she says she knew he deserved this award all along.

“He has always been a go getter and he didn’t have to do this competition, he chose to do it and he went full force for it,” Toni King, Diesel Technology Teacher.

By making a video about something he knows first-hand.

“It explains in the video how career-tech education takes a mild student to your extra ordinary professionals,” Cody Schultz, Diesel Technology Student.

Demonstrating those skills with his project and being honored with this special prize.

“They’re a nice set of tools. I means that’s $1,700 I don’t have to pull out of my pocket so that will be some extra cash to take and further my learning,” says Schultz.

“It’s an awesome representation for Macro and for the students to see what they can achieve when they put their minds to it,” says King.

Cody will be using these tools to pursue his dream of being a firefighter and having an advantage by knowing how to fix the trucks.

While also setting a great example of hard work paying off.
