State Lawmakers See Surplus Between $250M and $350M in Projected Tax Collections
State lawmakers will have hundreds of millions of dollars more to budget than planned at the turn of the year.
Legislative economists are projecting tax collections for the current fiscal year are up between $250 million and $340 million.
Revenues will be up to $190 million more than expected.
Governor Snyder and lawmakers are meeting today to finalize the next state spending plan in coming weeks.
Republicans say the extra money could be used to boost savings and pay down debt.
Democrats say it should go to road work.
