Interlochen Arts Academy Students Paint Mural for Munson Medical Center

Munson Medical Center is teaming up with Interlochen Arts Academy to turn a tunnel into a beautiful mural.

Munson uses an underground tunnel as a way to transport patients from the hospital to the Cowell Family Cancer Center so they don’t have to go outside or by ambulance.

But the quarter of a mile tunnel is covered in white walls.

So the Aesthetics of Health Class at Interlochen Arts Academy created a mural that they started working on this week and Munson employees even joined in to help make the trip for their patients a little brighter.

And this mural means something more for senior Sofia in this class, as she has been getting infusions at the center for nearly 4 years.

“Now I’m using this as a way to incorporate my outreach that Interlochen requires with my thesis which is something that I’m very passionate about and doing something good for the community that was so welcoming when I first came,” Sofia Fraccarolli, senior at Interlochen Arts Academy said.

They hope the entire mural will stretch from one end of the tunnel to the other.

They believe it will be completed by summer of next year.
