Hook & Hunting: Spring Turkey Hunt

It’s time to start practicing your turkey call, because the spring turkey hunt is right around the corner!

It’s not too late to head up to the DNR and grab your license.

The season starts in about a month and there are still licenses available.

The DNR says this is the first hunt of the year and people are looking forward to getting out in the woods.

“Turkey season is really interactive, you’re calling, so we want to limit the amount of hunters that are out at a time so we spread it out basically from the middle of April all the way through May. These early hunts are short, they’re about a week long, so those are the ones that typically sell out early. People want to be the first ones out to chase turkeys, and those are still available,” said Katie Keen, DNR wildlife communications coordinator.

Spring turkey season officially begins April 23.
