Grand Traverse Co. CPS Supervisor Accused of Assaulting Police Officer

A Grand Traverse County Child Protective Services supervisor is accused of assaulting a police officer.

Court documents show Paula Lipinski was leaving Kilkenny’s Irish Pub in Traverse City on Saturday when an employee at the bar noticed she was intoxicated and tried to stop her.

They say she got into the driver’s side of a car and tried to drive away, but an employee stood in her path and called police.

Police tried to arrest Lipinski, but say she was not cooperative and tried to run away.

Police eventually arrested her, but court documents say she kicked an officer in the process.

We spoke to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, who says they are investigating the situation.

“The only thing I can really say is confirmed that Ms. Lipinski is a Children’s Protection Services supervisor for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services in our Grand Traverse County office. We generally don’t discuss personnel matters, so I can’t really go into any details beyond that at this point,” said Bob Wheaton, Michigan DHHS public information officer.

Lipinski has been working for the department since 2002.
