BREAKING: Police Release Photo of CMU Shooting Suspect
A deadly shooting on the Central Michigan University campus.
The suspected shooter still on the loose.
Crews continue to comb through Isabella County, searching through homes and the woods trying to find James Davis Jr.
9&10’s News has been on the scene all daybringing you the latest on the shooting and the search for James Davis Jr.
It all started at about 8:30 Friday morning.
“We got calls from Campbell Hall of shots fired and university and Mount Pleasant officers responded to that location,” said Lt. Larry Klaus with CMU Police.
On the fourth floor of the residence hall, two people were shot and killed.
“The University responded quickly. We had the campus on lockdown. No students, faculty, or staff have been injured,” said Sherry Knight, CMU V.P. of communications.
Lt. Klaus explained, “We believe the situation involves a domestic type incident.”
The suspected shooter is 19-year-old CMU student James Davis Jr.
Police say he quickly left Campbell Hall.
“He was last seen running after the shooting, running in a northbound direction from the Towers complex,” said Lt. Klaus.
As a massive search intensified, this afternoon we learned this series of events may have actually have begun Thursday night.
“Police did have contact last night, taken to McLaren Hospital for possible drug OD or reaction. Released to the hospital staff… We’re calling it a family type domestic situation at this point,” said Lt. Klaus.
The Central vs. Western basketball game scheduled for Friday night has been canceled.
