A fact that health departments in Northern Michigan are trying to combat by offering the WISEWOMAN program.

It stands for Well-Integrated Screening and Evaluation for WOMen Across the Nation.

It screens women for numbers they might not otherwise have access to — like their blood pressure, cholesterol, weight and more.

Nurse practitioners then help women establish goals to make healthy lifestyle changes.
