Kingsley Churches Help Local Teens Through Food 4 Fuel Program

Two Northern Michigan churches are working to help teenagers in need, who are at risk for going hungry after school.

The Kingsley United Methodist and Mosaic Churches received a pilot grant from the Kingsley Food Pantry to start a Food 4 Fuel program.

Once a week they get together and make bags filled with sandwiches, fruit snacks, chips and water.

They pass them out at Kingsley High School to anyone who is hungry.

Last week they handed out more than 100 bags.

“You have kids who are staying after for athletics. They’re staying after for academic stuff. They’re just hanging out with their friends,” explained Kingsley Mosaic Church Pastor Jeremy Wicks. “Right now it’s just at the Kingsley High School. We would love to see that go to the other buildings in the district where there is need.”
