New Year Baby Surprises Parents, Born in Traverse City Munson Hospital
A happy couple welcomed a baby girl to their family for the New Year—but her birth came as a bit of a shock.
Traverse City Munson Hospital’s first baby of the new year, Camilla, was born just before 8 a.m. on New Year’s Day at the end of a long, unexpected night for her mom, Colleen, and dad, Tim.
Camilla’s due date wasn’t until early February, but Colleen began having contractions Monday morning just after ringing in the new year.
At around 3 a.m., she and Tim made their way the hospital.
Since she was born six weeks early, baby Camilla is now being cared for in Munson’s NICU.
Her parents say she’s doing well.
“It’s very unexpected and shocking for us because we did not think that could be a possibility, but it’s exciting for her,” Colleen says. “Our firstborn was born on Halloween, so to have another one on a holiday is just, I guess, our thing we do.”
Another reason this new year won’t be one to forget: mom and dad celebrated their anniversary on New Year’s Eve.
They tell us they will have a lot to look forward to this time next year.
