Michigan Senate Approves Bill to Increase 911 Fees
Michigan senators have approved a bill that would increase 911 fees on phone bills.
The vote will now move onto the House for consideration.
If passed, it would increase a 19 cent monthly state surcharge to 25 cents.
It would also allow counties to raise surcharges to 48 cents, a six cent difference from current charges.
The bill would boost annual revenue by $20 million and change how money is handled for 911 services.
