Death Ruled A Drowning After Woman Found Dead In Van In Boardman River

We have learned toxicology results from a woman found dead in a van, underwater in the Boardman River last month.

Police say a pair of fishermen found the van in several feet of water.

Morgan Elmer’s body was found inside.

A recently released toxicology report shows Elmer had Xanax, painkillers and sedatives in her system.

However, police say the cause of death was not drugs, it was drowning.

The city is now discussing adding signs to this area after another car drove into the river less than a month later.

“The parking lot hasn’t changed since it was made. That’s all with the city engineer and the city looking into the signage or what needs to be done. All of a sudden, we have two cars driving into the river,” says Captain Keith Gillis, Traverse City Police Department.

There have not been official plans made on signs.
